abstract

Nanomedicine, nanotechnology applications in medicine, is a multidisciplinary research field that integrates principles from chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, and nanotechnology to develop diagnostic tools and therapeutics to improve human health. Nanomedicines focus on improving pharmacokinetics, achieving a higher accumulation of drugs at the disease site, and target-specific delivery at cellular and subcellular levels. In this presentation, nanomedicines development; and their therapeutic potential in cancer and cardiovascular diseases will be discussed. In addition, nanotechnology-based tools to study the fundamentals of nano-bio interactions at the cellular and tissue level will also be addressed.
